SOFI TUKKER unveils video and debut EP + talks about gear on Delicious Audio

Who said a beautiful melody is necessary to create a great song? SOFI TUKKER's's gone viral single Drinkee (brand new video below) features a one-note melodic phrase repeated over and over pretty much from the beginning to the end of the song - and we'll never get tired of it! The Brooklyn based duo just unveiled their debut EP 'Soft Animals,' which comprises all their singles to date, plus electro ballad 'Moon Tattoo,' and also announced a bunch of summer dates in Europe and the US - the local date at Baby's All Right on July 30th is already sold out. We recently asked them a few questions about their creative process, check out the link below.

Buzz Alert! Sofi Tukker unveils "Matadora" + kicks off tour with The Knocks on 01.14

We blogged about South American music infused EDM duo Sofi Tukker in early December, and things have been moving fast for them since them. Their single Drinkee (soon gone viral after appearing in an Apple Watch commercial) and a couple of live appearances in late 2015 were enough to open the door of a winter tour supporting The Knocks. The tour will begin on January 14th at Baby's Allright - on the bill also Cardiknox. The band has just released new single "Matadora" (streaming below), announcing it will be featured in the upcoming debut EP, entitled "Soft Animals."

After going viral, Sofi Tukker plays Baby's All Right on 01.14

Freshly graduated NYC duo Sofi Tukker (comprised of singer guitarist Sophie Hawley-Weld and programmer Tucker Halpern) started making music in 2014 and went viral in early November 2015, after releasing their first single "Drinkee." Admittedly, the track is infectuous: a compelling techno number infused with South American percussions, and propelled by a (quite literally) mono-note vocal line sung in Poruguese and charged with a synchopation able to move mountains - as in 'make them dance." Also, we can't bloody stop listening to it nor prevent our bodies from moving! It will be interesting to see if the duo stands the double test of a 30+ minute live show, during which they'll have to (hopefully!) reveal a bunch of other songs. That show is already scheduled: Baby's All Right for January 14th. Mark your Calendars.

We added this song to The Deli's playlist of Best electronic songs by emerging NYC artists - check it out!
