Yoke Lore

Indie Pop powerhouse Yoke Lore releases new EP at Baby's All Right on 7.07

Yoke Lore’s newest EP Goodpain is a triumph of "indie pop persuasion." In a genre cluttered with cookie cutter synths, bubblegum lyrics, and insincerely grandiose choruses, Yoke Lore’s work sets itself apart with its concision. Restraint is the virtue of good music production, and the Brooklyn based artist demonstrates to be familiar with the concept, giving the listener space to "breathe," while still creating memorable tunes enveloped in a charming, abstract aura. His voice soothes, surprises, and soars on this project, showing his range as a songwriter and as an artist. After a series of well received singles, Yoke Lore will be kicking off a summer tour with his EP release show at Baby’s All Right on July 7th. - Lilly Milman, photography by Wes Santos & Alex Gomez

Yoke Lore tours with Elliot Moss, plays Bowery on 09.22 + talks about the creative process on Delicious Audio

Combing lush vocal harmonies and smart, dance-y, instrumental layers, Yoke Lore creates tunes that have the force of a formidable sonic front, but still manage to soundm sincere. Though his tracks reflect a ready-for-airwaves sheen, there's nothing about the Brooklyn-based artist's music that seems rote, and his work is at once accessible and soul-baring. The man was asked to open for like-minded NYC musician Eliot Moss on his upcoming east coast tour, and the two will be sharing the stage of the Bowery Ballroom on September 22nd. Recently, Yoke Lore made The Deli privy to his wide range of influences, and what goes on during his creative process. - Olivia Sisinni, Photo by Jacob Wayler

Buzz Alert: Yoke Lore (ex Yellerkin) plays LA's The Echo tonight (07.13) + BK Rough Trade on 07.15

Adding to his many creative outlets, Brooklyn artist Adrian Galvin dropped his debut EP Far Shore under his new solo project Yoke Lore on May 6th. The EP bares some resemblance to Galvin's previous work with his band Yellerkin, with some notable departures from it as well. Both groups feature Galvin's distinct, Panda Bear-esque voice, but where Yellerkin's sound could be described as electronic folk-pop, in his solo project Galvin dials down the busy arrangements, acoustic instruments in particular, opting instead for a sparser atmosphere, which allows his sparkling voice to take a more prominent role in the song. After debuting his live show under Yoke Lore at the Northside Fest on June 8th, Galvin will be performing at LA's The Echo tonight (07.13) and then at Brooklyn's Rough Trade on Friday 07.15. — Henry Solotaroff-Webber

New Brooklyn indie-pop act Yoke Lore shares music video for 'Heavy Love'

A little over a month ago, new Brooklyn indie-pop act Yoke Lore made a humbly audacious introduction with the soaring song “Heavy Love” off its forthcoming debut EP ‘Far Shore.’ Now, project creator Adrian Galvin conveys the song’s helplessly twitching heart with a disturbingly compelling, accompanying music video (streaming below). Showing a still-faced young man alternately standing in and dancing through a bare white room, images of him and his past lover cutting through his mind, the clip is as hauntingly vital a portrait of post-romance ennui as can be expected from the warmly cerebral Galvin. While Yoke Lore doesn’t seem to have forthcoming shows listed, keep posted on the project’s Facebook page. – Zach Weg

New Brooklyn act Yoke Lore shares debut single, 'Heavy Love'

Last week, new Brooklyn act Yoke Lore shared its celestial electro-pop debut song, “Heavy Love” (streaming below). Soaring over drum thuds, finger snaps, and vocals that almost cry for love, the lead single off project mastermind Adrian Galvin’s forthcoming debut EP ‘Far Shore’ does nothing less than quietly calm the restless. While Yoke Lore doesn’t seem to have upcoming shows listed, keep posted on his Facebook page for future announcements. ‘Far Shore’ is due May 6 via B3SCI Records.- Zach Weg
